Back in March, I decided to eat only organic foods. My intentions were NOT to become vegetarian but to eat whole, 100% natural foods. I despised the fact that food companies love to hide things in your food. Reminds me of when I was a kid and my parents would hide some medicine I was supposed to take but didn't want to. Oh veggie eating did come into play around the same time cuz I simply couldn't do it anymore.

With that said, I am constantly doing research to make sure I am eating what I think I am eating. You know, what really has a Monsanto made ingredient in it, what has an animal by product in it, etc. Then I saw this disheartening article. There is a new spray, a preservative substance, that can prevent bananas from turning into mush for two extra weeks. Guess what is one thing they use in this preservative......SHELLFISH! This will NOT be used while the bananas are growing. Rather it will be sprayed on by the stores, the shippers, or the customers. So now there is going to be a labeling issue. If it was grown and harvested organically, could it still be considered organic when it doessnt get sprayed on it? The organic label is put on BEFORE shipment, so who is going to check it? Same with the shellfish label. There is a large population that is severely allergic.

Holy sheets and blankets. I don't even know what to say about this right now. I don't put anything past anyone but i would really hope that super markets wouldn't do this. The bananas in our Shop-Rite are usually in bags so I think that would make it harder but I guess we would have to ask?! Sometimes I feel like such an idiot walking in some place like, "Uhh... do you spray shellfish juice on your bananas?"  Lmao I'LL DO IT THOUGH! Nobody would check it. That is why it is so hard to trust anyone anymore! UGH!

Also, the article is right what about people with shellfish allergies...? I personally don't want to believe this would happen. Hopefully they keep their dirty flanges off our organic fruits! Hey Dara, btw could you please try and post what you find when you are keeping up with what you eat and everything?! I would love to be in the know as well and find it hard to research. I have a serious lack of patience as well :P Thanks!
