Tried the pancake recipe, dont think i did it right, it was bit crunchy , not sure it was supposed to be, what did I do wrong?

Hi Eileen. If the pancake was bit crispy,  there is nothing wrong in your preparation, till its taste was good. The crunchiness may  be due to little higher content of rice in the batter. You can change the proportion of lentils and rice in the batter by adding 1/3 cup pigeon pea or yellow lentils in the total mixture.

 Rebekka, I am not an expert  in this field. There are wonderful Indian vegetarian cookbooks in the market, including that of madhur jaffrey which are quite famous among the lovers of Indian food. 

There are few other Indian vegetarian cookbooks which are highly acclaimed, and I am giving  their names in order of my personal priorty. 

The Art of Indian Vegetarian Cooking - Yamuna Devi

Pure and Simple: Homemade Indian Vegetarian Cuisine - Vidhu Mitta

Classic Indian Vegetarian and Grain Cooking - Julie Sahni

The Spice Box: A Vegetarian Indian Cookbook  - Manju S. Singh

Dakshin: Vegetarian Cuisine from South India - Chandra Padmanabhan

The Indian Vegan Kitchen: More Than 150 Quick and Healthy Homestyle Recipes - Madhu Gadia

These books are easily available in any book store. There are many other interesting books, as Indian cuisines are a vast treasure-house which no one book  can completely cover. Hope this information helps you in broadening your collection of Indian cookbooks.

Hello everyone. I would be interested in 'extremely' simple Indian dishes. Simple to be would be a minimum of three to five ingredients and spices which could be obtained locally or within the region.

Hi Troy , welcome to the group. You can make any of the recipes which i have added in the group , as most of them are pretty simple. If you cant get any of the ingredients you can skip them because not adding few of the ingredients from the whole list does not make much of a difference in the taste of the dish. So make the Indian dishes and enjoy them and do share your experiences with us .
