Hello Kristina, it would be nice to welcome you here in Germany. I think in US it´s more popular to eat vegan than here... till yet! But everything is changing... it would be nice to exchange experiences! So you´re welcome :D

Hey guys,

sorry I didn't write back anymore!
I kinda forgot about this page and also had a lot to do and moved so I can study, went vegan and lost a lot of weight! I also found local vegan groups on Facebook.

Hi, I am German and I have lived in several European countries over the years. We have now settled down in Belgium. I was vegetarian in my teenage years but when I moved to France at 20 I got back to meat eating because in the late 80's being vegetarian meant to eat the same food everybody else did just without the meat. Not very satisfying! I was never crazy about meat and over the years I made a few attempts to be vegetarian and it strikes me that in the last 10 years living a vegetarian lifestyle became easier. Vegetarian products and meat replacing products like quorn, veggie burgers, tofu sausages, etc. ... appeared in the supermarkets. Vegetarian and vegan restaurants popped up in the bigger cities and regular restaurants have a few vegetarian dishes on their menu or are happy to make a vegetarian dish for you at your request. I find it a lot harder when travelling. Some countries' kitchen is really "meaty". I found it hard to travel to Arabic countries and the Middle East and stick to vegetarian food. What do you do if people invite you to their house and slaughter a lamb in your honor or cook a special festive meat dish because your are visiting? declining is considered impolite. I had a similar experience travelling to Eastern Europe. But I guess everywhere in the world things are changing slowly but surely.

My parents still eat meat and suffer of high cholesterol. They don't understand how I can actually live without meat and be healthy. But, in general, I feel I don't have to justify myself as much as I had to in the past.

Hello everyone, I was born in America, but I am part German, so, if anyone from Germany would like to send me a friend request, I will add them.

You need to be a member of German to add comments!
